Northlake means seriously fun early education for preschool, kindergarten, and beginning elementary school
children. Small class sizes and excellent staffing ratios allow students in our hands-on programs to accelerate a year or more beyond their academic grade levels. At Northlake each child feels valued. The diversity of our staff and students and our commitment to the uniqueness of each child provide a launchpad for critical thinkers who grow to participate thoughtfully in a global community. Northlake Preschool is licensed by the WA Department of Early Learning. Northlake Academy is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission. |
ADMISSIONS Application Northlake Academy schedules admissions interviews January through April for kindergarten-age students capable of doing work on a first grade level (Northlake SuperK) as well as for older students ready for the advanced curriculum of our elementary grades (Northlake Academy). TEACHING STAFF Teaching Credentials With many years of teaching experience in both public and independent schools, Northlake teachers are WA State certified and hold Bachelors or Masters degrees in Education. Northlake Academy is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission. CURRICULUM Curriculum Maps To foster their future success in the global community, our curriculum prepares students to succeed according to international standards, to be competitive in countries with different educational systems and higher academic achievement levels than the United States. Our curriculum focuses on core subjects and provides students with a strong foundation that transcends the fluctuating trends in the American public school system. EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS Extracurricular classes such as Japanese, Spanish, visual art, and Zumbatomic are available to all students at no additional cost and provide a rich learning experience. Foreign language teachers are native speakers and hold teaching certificates in their home countries as well as degrees from U.S. Universities. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS Tuition also includes extended care hours with enrichment activities such as Chess Club or Young Authors (until 6 p.m.) for students with working parents. After school programs are taught by teachers who specialize in individual areas of expertise. YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS Sequential lessons and repetition promote academic success. Our programs continue through the summer with continuing and repeated lessons in core subjects along with additional explorations in Science Camp. Students in the public schools lose an average of three months' worth of information over the summer and need to repeat a percentage of their previous year's work each fall. Northlake students attending year-round retain information and maintain a steady progression from month to month and year to year.
